GMC Sierra End of Lease Checklist

1. It's time to decide your next steps!

While we know this checklist is about the end of your lease, we want to make sure that you are prepared for what happens when the lease is over. This means having discussions about things like leasing another vehicle, like a newer GMC Sierra, buying your current Sierra, or just dropping off your pickup truck at our dealership and calling it a day. We recommend starting this particular part of the end-of-lease process at least 90 days beforehand so you can have a better idea as to what you want to do with your Sierra. If you do want to buy your ride, you can discuss things with our finance team, who will talk about how much money is owed and how we can have you sign a new contract. We're always here to help!

2. Do I have to have my GMC Sierra inspected?

Yes! One of the first things that you should get off your list is a vehicle inspection. You'll want to view your lease contract to understand what is defined as excess wear and tear in the contract. This will help you determine what needs to be fixed and what doesn't, if any issues are detected during the inspection. Some aspects of your Sierra to take a look at include any scratches or dents to the exterior, rips or stains to the upholstery, tires that are low on tread, and any other issues that are spotted in areas like the brakes or engine. 3. Schedule the turn-in or buyout day, depending on your end-of-lease decision!

You've had your inspection, and you have had any major wear or tear issues fixed, now what? This is when you need to be setting up your final appointment with us! We'll have you here so you can either turn in your leased GMC Sierra or so you can finalize the buyout that you have. Should you be leasing another vehicle after, we'll make sure to coordinate with you so that you will be able to drive home in the latest vehicle that you have leased. This process is stress-free, and you'll be driving back home in no time.

4. What do I bring to the turn-in day with my GMC Sierra?

The final key part of this checklist is what you need to make sure you bring to our dealership when the turn-in day arrives. We'll make sure to remind you as often as possible so you never feel overwhelmed. You'll want to bring the lease agreement/contract, the vehicle registration and insurance, every set of the vehicle keys, the owner's manual and any service records, along with other items that came with your GMC Sierra, such as cargo covers and floor mats. We also want to remind you to take out all of your items that you may have had while driving your car, as you won't want to leave anything behind since this vehicle is no longer yours.
